WHO WE ARE
what to expect
Maybe you have been reflecting on the big issues of life and thinking about attending a church for the first time or the first time in a long time. Maybe you have decided that you/your family need some encouragement. Maybe you have recently moved to this area and are looking for a group of God's people with which to continue your spiritual journey. Whatever your story, we want to offer you some idea of what you should expect to find here at South Main.
A Friendly Environment
Smiling faces and pleasant people await you. Others have discovered that this church is comprised of a number of persons who, though not perfect, are genuine in their desire to please Jesus Christ. You will be warmly and authentically welcomed. We love Jesus and love one another demonstrating that love in word and action.
What is the Sunday Schedule?
Worship services are held at 8:15 am, 10:45 am and 5:40 pm. Sunday Bible studies meet at 9:30 am.
What should I wear?
You'll see people in everything from shorts to suits on Sundays. Our early service (8:15) is more traditional in nature so most of the time you’ll see people dressed in the traditional “church” attire. The second service (10:45) is more contemporary and you’ll notice the dress is casual. Our concern isn't what's on the outside, but what's on the inside. Come as you are. Besides, Jesus accepts us as we are when we come to Him. Why shouldn't we?
Where do I park?
We set aside reserved parking for first time guests in our north parking lot -- conveniently across from our main entrance. General parking is also available in other parts of the north, south, and west parking lots.
Will I find a seat?
'In the church I grew up in, some people had "their" seats. What if I unknowingly sit in somebody's seat?' Don't worry about it. Sit wherever you want. Nobody has a claim on a seat. In fact, we'll even let you save seats for your family and friends!
Is there anything for my children?
Of course! We have Sunday options for newborns through high school seniors, including special times of worship designed just for the younger kids: Kids Cove is for Pre-Kindergartners through 3rd grade. They enjoy the first part of the worship service with their families and are dismissed together to the Kidz Place upstairs for a worship and learning experience geared toward their age levels. Bible Study – Our online listing of Sunday Bible Studies provides more detail about what’s available for all children, no matter what their age may be. (By the way, if you’re wondering about your college students or single adult children, we have options for them, too!)
How will I find a Bible study?
On Sunday, stop by the Welcome Center in the main Narthex. A Welcome Team member can show you a listing of Sunday Bible studies, including a map of where each one is located. Believe us -- our goal is to get every guest and member into a Sunday Bible study so we'll go out of our way to help you get connected!
Your building is huge. How will I find my way around?
Our signage system will help a lot. But the best way is to stop by the Welcome Center in the main Narthex. Our volunteer Welcome Team members will love to show you where you're going -- and even walk with you to make sure you find your way. On top of that, you’ll be able to pick-up a Bible study option sheet handout which includes maps of the building.
May I bring my morning cup of java into church?
Yes -- but only if you bring one for the rest of us. (Just kidding, of course. Kinda.) Yes, you may bring your drink with you. However, be sure to finish it before you enter the Worship Center. That's the one place food and beverages are not permitted. By the way, why not save your money and get coffee at church? It's free and usually comes with a doughnut!
