Children's Minister

Carrie Andrus began serving as Children’s Minister of South Main Baptist Church on August 13, 2023.

Carrie was born in July 1980 in Houston, Texas. She grew up in a Christian home along with her older brother.  Her family battled many challenges including homelessness. Over and over again, God showed His love and mercy by providing for her family. This created a strong testimony to God’s unfailing love in Carrie’s life.

Carrie accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 7. She was baptized on February 17, 1988, in a small church in Brazoria, Texas. At just 8 years old, God impressed on her heart to become a missionary. For years, she worked toward the goal God had given her to reach orphans for Christ in Romania. In college, Carrie had an opportunity to travel to Romania and teach children about God’s love. While on that mission trip, God completed His plan for her as a missionary in Romania. Soon thereafter, He redefined her calling and her passion for the children and families all around her. Carrie accepted God’s call into full-time ministry to children and their families right here in the USA.

Carrie’s husband, Ray, was born in August 1979, in Bryan, Texas. Ray was saved and baptized in January 1987 in a small town outside of College Station. They met and fell in love while attending East Texas Baptist University. After dating for a little over two years, they married in June 2002.

Carrie and Ray have two children, Jonathan (19) and Chloe (17), who keep them on their toes and bring a lot of joy into their lives. Additionally, Chloe has trained a service dog named Nya who is an important part of their family.
