Disaster Relief Efforts
As soon as it happens, it's in the news. While disasters are unavoidable, they can also be opportunities to provide help and hope to those in need. South Main partners with TBM to train volunteers to help in times of need. We have had volunteers travel all over Texas and the Carolinas in 2018.
Local Missions
South Main currently sponsors over thirty local mission points, groups meeting weekly for Bible study and worship in apartments and other locations. There are many opportunities for you to get involved in taking the message of Christ to a world that needs him. Just ask one of the Ministry Leadership Team how you can serve.
WMU has delivered meals from South Main to our summer missionaries at Mission Centers of Houston several times this summer. They had a prayer time praying for our families, our church, and all that we do and for the ministries we are involved in. We prayed for their work this summer. These are truly even more challenging times for our inner city missions. Please keep praying for their work and their unique ministry this summer. Pray for their safety and creative ways to minister to their families.

Global Missions
South Main is a cooperating Southern Baptist Church with several mission partners. We help support these different places in a variety of ways because of the deep love we have for God and wanting to take the message of Christ to the ends of the earth. We love because He first loved us.
Hope in Christ
Hope can be found in Christ alone. What a comfort this is to our hearts and minds. God is faithful and will not disappoint. We can’t help but rejoice in that knowledge. We all need this hope today. Our entire Christian walk is based on hope. A hope not just for this current life, but for eternity. What we do as a Christ follower is a result of this. In Romans 12, Paul gave us a summary of what is necessary to live a life that is pleasing to God. Specifically in verse 12, we are encouraged to have joy in hope and because of our hope in Christ, we seek to be genuine in love, patient in tribulation, constant in prayer, and compassionate to all. “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
Women’s Missionary Union is made up of all age level Mission Education Organizations learning about relationship with Christ, seeing the world through His eyes, and being engaged in missions discipleship. The goal of missions discipleship is to create an environment where an individual can hear and respond, in personal obedience, to God’s call to fulfill the Great Commission.
Missions discipleship is the lifelong process of equipping individuals to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed to all the people in the world.
WMU strives to lead the church to uncover what it means to follow Christ by surrendering to His love in order to serve Him wholeheartedly. All areas of our lives can help others come to have a relationship with Jesus. WMU encourages all to do our part in our sphere and influence to share Christ’s love.
We ask you to prayerfully consider your role in striving to serve Him through Missions. There are limitless opportunities for you to discover God’s leadership in your life as you serve the Lord through a Mission Education Organization, beginning new areas of ministry, and plugging into existing ministries.
