Children's ministry

Babies, preschoolers, and kindergarteners make up the Preschool Ministry at South Main Baptist Church. These super sweet years are filled with love and laughter. We delight in allowing our littlest ones a safe place to learn to enjoy coming to church, learning about God’s love, and pointing them toward His plan for their lives.  
Preschoolers are invited to participate in all kinds of activities. These include learning about the Bible, missions, and worship in ways especially designed with little ones in mind. It also includes special events throughout the year such as Parent/Child Dedication,  Eggstravaganza, Vacation Bible School, and our Fall Festival.  

1st – 3rd grades have been called “the learning years” as children are able to retain a lot of data in these years. At South Main, we take full advantage of this stage of development by ensuring that our kids have plenty of opportunities to actively engage in learning about God, scripture, themselves, and the church.  

Kids are encouraged to participate in every element of Children’s Ministry at South Main Baptist Church. These include learning about the Bible, missions, and worship. It also includes special events throughout the year such as the Eggstravaganza, Vacation Bible School, and our Fall Festival.

Preteens aren’t quite children, but they aren’t quite youth just yet. Here at South Main, we strive to give our preteens a safe place to learn and grow into the person God has designed them to be. We do this by intentionally setting aside some time and experiences for our kids to connect to God, one another, and our ministry leaders.

Preteens are encouraged to participate in every area of Chirldren’s Ministry at South Main.  Additionally, we offer events such as Meet Ups and camps that are designed to intentionally engage and excite preteens. Preteen Meet Ups are held at the church and at various nearby locations throughout the year. Preteen Camp held each summer and is typically 4 days and 3 nights for kids who have just completed 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade.

On Sunday mornings, we want to make sure that every child who enters our doors can learn about the Bible in a safe and age-appropriate environment. We do this through Sunday School and Extended Teaching Care.

Sunday School Bible Studies are at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. We offer age-appropriate Bible Study for all ages birth through sixth grade. Our goal is for children to learn Bible truth from loving teachers and engaging activities.

Extended Teaching Care (ETC) is an extension of the learning time that takes place during Sunday School. During each worship service we provide classes for our preschoolers, birth through pre-kindergarten. ETC is provided so that families can all enjoy their worship experience. Please take all preschoolers to the Preschool area where you will be directed to the perfect class for your child.

Kids Zone is a special time of worship for children Kinder up through 3rd grade. They will begin worship with their parents each week and on designated Sundays, kids will exit and head to the Kids Place for worship "kidstyle".

Choirs help children learn basic music elements and experience the joy of singing to our God. Children are divided into 4 choirs:
